I had so much fun painting this design!

I used several different brush techniques to achieve the different textures. To draw the feathers, I tapered my brush to a fine point and delicately pulled it across the paper in smooth arcs. By contrast the hair and fire required that I flatten the brush, sculpting the bristles with my fingers until they were perfectly spaced. Then in a few careful motions, I raked the brush across the paper to produce the tiny parallel lines. 

All in all, I'm very pleased with this piece. I hope you like it too!
