'Wolf on the Run' Giclée Print
It's common knowledge that these stories were partly inspired by Japanese films and design. It only made sense that in returning these characters to an Ukiyo-e style, I also pay homage to another obvious source of inspiration: 'Lone Wolf and Cub'. It was also a lot of fun interpreting this sci-fi/fantasy world through the lens of Japanese steampunk, which isn't actually a thing, but I enjoy pretending it is.
The top caption says 逃去狼, which translates to 'Wolf on the Run'.
The bottom caption says 誰扶誰被扶者不可辨, which roughly means 'It's hard to say who is rescuing whom..."
